About Our Name.
Where did the name Manzer Basketball Academy come from?
This is Colin Stevens' take on the academy name:
"Dave Manzer has been involved in basketball his whole life. I met him while I was searching for a college to play for. He recruited me to play at Messiah College in Pennsylvania, but that didn't work out. Coach Manzer helped me get in contact with Pete Strickland at Coastal Carolina University and therefore played a major role in my career as a basketball player. He has left a great impression on me athletically and spritually and I wanted to name this academy after someone who would lead me to thoughts of inspiration, enthusiasm, and determination each day.
Coach Manzer has recently passed away due to a long battle with heart complications in the Spring of 2009. He is survived by his wife and three kids. He was truly a man after God's heart. I hope to make an impact on the players I teach like the impact that Coach Manzer has made on me."
