Privacy Policy
Manzer Basketball Academy Last Updated: June 30, 2026
Manzer Basketball Academy II LLC ("Manzer Basketball Academy," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and the privacy of the young athletes in our programs. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website at www.manzerbasketball.com (the "Site") and to information we collect when you register for, participate in, or communicate with us about our basketball programs, camps, leagues, and teams (together, our "Programs").
Please read this policy carefully. By using our Site or enrolling in our Programs, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. A Note About Children and This Policy
Manzer Basketball Academy provides basketball training and programs for children and teenagers, including participants under the age of 13. Because of this, protecting children's information is very important to us.
Our Site is written for and directed to parents, guardians, and other adults — not to children. We do not ask children to provide personal information directly through our Site. When information about a child participant is needed, it is provided by a parent or legal guardian during registration or when signing our forms. Please see Section 7 ("Children's Privacy") for details.
2. Services We Use That Have Their Own Privacy Policies
Our Site is largely informational. Many of the activities that involve collecting your personal or payment information do not happen on our Site — they happen on trusted third-party platforms that we use to run the academy. When you use those services, the information you provide is handled under that company's privacy policy, not ours. These include:
Upper Hand — our registration, scheduling, and payment platform. When you create an account, register for a Program, or make a payment, that information is collected and processed by Upper Hand. See Upper Hand's privacy policy at https://upperhand.com/privacy-policy.
SquadLocker — the third-party store that powers our apparel "Shop." Purchases of Manzer Basketball Academy gear are handled by SquadLocker. See SquadLocker's privacy policy at https://www.squadlocker.com/privacy-policy-sl.
Squarespace — our website host. Squarespace may collect certain technical and usage information when you visit the Site. See Squarespace's privacy policy at https://www.squarespace.com/privacy.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party platforms, but we only work with providers we believe handle information responsibly.
3. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly. We collect information you choose to provide, such as when you:
Email us, call us, or otherwise contact us with a question or request;
Register a child for a Program (collected through Upper Hand), which typically includes the parent/guardian's name and contact details, the participant's name, age or grade, and program selections;
Sign our waiver, liability release, and media release forms, which may include emergency contact information and any health or medical information you choose to share for participant safety;
Purchase apparel (collected through SquadLocker); or
Sign up to receive updates or communications from us.
Depending on the activity, this information may include names, email addresses, phone numbers, mailing addresses, a participant's age/grade, emergency contacts, and payment information (payment card details are handled by our payment processor, not stored by us).
Information collected automatically. When you visit our Site, certain information may be collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies used by our website host (Squarespace) and any analytics tools that may be in use. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, links clicked, and the dates and times of your visits. This information helps the Site function and helps us understand general usage. See Section 8 ("Cookies and Tracking Technologies").
Photos and video. We regularly take photographs and video of participants during camps, practices, games, and events, and we use them to promote the academy (see Section 5). We ask each participant's parent or guardian to sign a media release covering this use. If you would prefer that we not use your child's image, you can tell us at any time and we will honor your request going forward (see Section 5).
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, administer, and improve our Programs, including scheduling, rosters, and communication with families;
Process registrations and payments (through Upper Hand) and apparel orders (through SquadLocker);
Contact you about registrations, schedules, changes, safety matters, and other Program updates;
Respond to your questions and requests;
Keep participants safe, including using emergency contact and any provided health information when needed during Programs;
Promote the academy — for example, sharing participant photos and video on our Site and on our social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube), subject to the media release and opt-out process described in Section 5;
Operate, maintain, and improve our Site; and
Comply with the law and enforce our terms, protect our rights, and prevent fraud or misuse.
5. Use of Participant Photos and Video
Sports programs are visual, and sharing highlights is part of building our community. We ask the parent or guardian of each participant to sign a media release that gives us permission to photograph and record participants and to use those images and recordings to promote the academy — including on our website, social media, and marketing materials.
If you do not want your child's image used, or if you signed a release and later change your mind, please contact us at info@manzerbasketball.com. We will honor your request going forward and make reasonable efforts to remove images we control, though we may be unable to recover content that has already been shared or downloaded by others.
6. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to run the academy and as described below:
Service providers. We share information with the companies that help us operate, such as Upper Hand (registration, scheduling, payments), SquadLocker (apparel store), Squarespace (website hosting), our payment processor, and any email or communication tools we use. These providers are permitted to use the information only to provide services to us.
Coaches and staff. Our coaches and staff may access participant and family information as needed to run Programs safely and effectively.
Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of a participant or others, to protect our rights, or to prevent fraud or illegal activity.
Business changes. The academy may be sold, or its assets transferred to a new owner. If that happens, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction, and the new owner may adopt its own privacy policy for information going forward.
Aggregated or de-identified information. We may share information that does not identify any individual.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
We care about children's privacy, and we handle children's information consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA").
Our Site is intended for parents, guardians, and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through our Site. Information about a child participant is provided to us by a parent or legal guardian — for example, during registration through Upper Hand or when signing our forms — and is used to run our Programs and keep participants safe.
Parents and guardians have the right to review the personal information we hold about their child, to ask us to delete it, and to refuse to allow us to further collect or use it (understanding that some information may be necessary for a child to participate in a Program). To make any of these requests, contact us at info@manzerbasketball.com or (843) 481-4468.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information through the Site without a parent's involvement, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Like most websites, our Site uses cookies and similar technologies, primarily through our website host, Squarespace. Cookies are small files stored on your device that help the Site function, remember preferences, and understand how the Site is used. Some cookies are necessary for the Site to work; others help measure and improve performance. If we use analytics services or social media features or pixels, those providers may also collect information about your visit through the Site and use it under their own privacy policies.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. If you disable certain cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as intended. For more information about the cookies used by our host, see Squarespace's privacy and cookie information at https://www.squarespace.com/privacy.
Because we do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals in a standardized way, our practices remain as described in this policy regardless of any such signal.
9. Links to Other Websites
Our Site links to other websites and services, including our registration platform (Upper Hand), our apparel store (SquadLocker), our partner Athlete's Edge (https://eliteathletesedge.com), and our social media pages. When you follow a link to another site, you leave our Site, and any information you provide there is governed by that site's own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other websites, and we encourage you to review their policies.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, and we rely on established providers (such as Upper Hand, SquadLocker, and Squarespace) that maintain their own security measures. However, no method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and any transmission of information is at your own risk.
11. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information for as long as needed to run our Programs, communicate with families, meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Information held by our third-party providers is retained according to their own policies.
12. Your Choices and Rights
You have choices about your information:
Access and updates. You can review and update much of your registration and account information directly through your UpperHand account. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information we hold about you or your child, and we will respond consistent with applicable law.
Marketing communications. You can opt out of promotional emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us. We may still send you non-promotional messages about your registration, schedules, or safety matters.
Photos and video. See Section 5 for how to opt out of the use of participant images.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable state or other privacy laws. If you contact us, we will work with you to honor the rights that apply to you. To exercise any of these choices, contact us using the information in Section 15.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Any changes become effective when posted on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site or our Programs after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy and any matters relating to it are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina.
